The position of Distribution Center Worker at Grainger carries significant responsibility for facilitating the smooth running of operations. Key Responsibilities:

Receiving & Stocking: • Effectively manage the arrival of new merchandise and ensure proper reception. • Examine merchandise for any signs of defects and verify if they fulfill the predetermined quality criteria. • Organize and categorize various items, and store them in the appropriate storage areas.

Order Picking & Packing: • Retrieve customer orders with precision and accuracy using system-generated pick lists. • Prepare packages with utmost care, guaranteeing that every item is adequately and firmly packed for transportation.

Inventory Management: • Help with conducting cycle counts, verifying inventory levels, and restocking items. • Maintain precise records of inventory and report any inaccuracies.

Shipping: • Ensure that all necessary documentation and labels are accurately attached before preparing items for shipment. • Move the outgoing shipments to the specified location in trucks or trailers by utilizing the suitable equipment.

Safety & Compliance: • Adhere to every rule and regulation of the organization, including safety protocols and OSHA standards. • Respect Grainger's safety and environmental policies by managing hazardous materials properly.

Housekeeping: • Ensure that the workspace is maintained in a neat, secure, and orderly fashion. • Maintain a clean and organized work area by performing routine cleaning tasks.

Equipment Operation: • Ensure safe and efficient operation of powered industrial equipment (PIE) such as forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and pallet jacks.

Process Improvement: • Get involved in ongoing efforts to enhance warehouse productivity and efficiency. • Pinpoint and report any ineffective processes or tasks that are causing delays or hindering productivity within the organization.

Qualifications: • A high school diploma or its equivalent is a prerequisite for this job. • Having worked in a warehouse or distribution center previously is an advantage. • Maintaining certification and operating various warehouse equipment, including forklifts and order pickers, is crucial for a smooth workflow. • Being highly focused and dedicated to precision. • Possessing the competence to operate in a fast-paced setting while achieving productivity targets. • Effective communication abilities and proficiency in teamwork are crucial to achieving success in the workplace. • The capability to lift weights of up to 50 pounds and remain on one's feet for a prolonged duration is required.

Work Environment: • The warehouse atmosphere undergoes temperature changes based on the ongoing season. • The job necessitates having the flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and evenings, as needed.
