Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) collaborates to deliver both direct and indirect patient care in the ambulatory setting. They provide nursing care to designated patients under the supervision of a physician or Registered Nurse (RN) and accept delegated tasks to address patient needs. The LPN follows Monument Health's policies and procedures, adheres to professional standards, and complies with the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act, as well as other relevant federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards.

Job Description
Essential Functions: Makes sure that the examination and treatment areas are properly prepared according to clinic standards. By engaging in pre-visit planning and following established clinic procedures for organizing exam and treatment areas, the healthcare provider displays their commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. Carries out the process of patient rooming efficiently, which includes taking vital signs, gathering pertinent data, and executing other specific components that are critical to the clinic's operations. Observes protocols and clinic policies when dispensing and documenting medication with accuracy. Conducts nursing procedures and therapies while adhering to the Scope of Responsibilities as per the nursing division and clinic protocols. Demonstrates outstanding skills in performing meticulous assessments, accurately documenting them, applying clinical interventions, scrutinizing outcomes, and modifying the care strategy in partnership with RN/provider. Hand out pre-approved or pre-printed educational resources to patients. Reiterate healthcare provider or registered nurse's health teachings and discharge instructions, and encourage patients to consult these professionals for further explanation and help with their questions. Executes autonomous nurse visits with authorization based on departmental regulations and adequate supervision. Facilitate efficient email management and accomplish necessary patient referrals and prior authorizations in accordance with company policies and the role given. Engages in the onboarding and mentoring of clinical staff in accordance with their duties and responsibilities. Devotes time and energy to the department's growth by actively participating in meetings, committees, and ongoing education/training initiatives. Affirms that the information in the patient record is precise, clear, and to the point, within the delineated Scope of Responsibilities. All other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
Certification - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Healthcare Experience
Physical Requirements:
Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
