Life Skills Coordinator (Foster Teens and Young Adults)

About the position

The Life Skills Coordinator at RaisingHOPE, Inc. plays a crucial role in empowering teens and young adults in the foster care system by providing mentorship, life skills education, and support services. This part-time position involves program administration, volunteer coordination, and the development of life skills curricula to help youth achieve independence and navigate challenges related to the child welfare system. The coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to enhance program effectiveness and community engagement.

Responsibilities • Participate in strategic planning to develop a shared vision for the Life Skills Program. , • Bolster internal organizational systems and communications. , • Nurture a collaborative volunteer environment to support individual youth. , • Educate youth in an engaging manner to promote independence. , • Maintain excellence in program delivery by staying informed on trends in independent living and child welfare. , • Build relationships with the community to recruit volunteers and trainers for the Life Skills Program. , • Create marketing materials for class sessions and maintain communication with guest speakers. , • Develop and manage the annual budget in partnership with the Executive Director. , • Coordinate transportation and logistics for youth activities and events. , • Compile data for reports to county leadership and participate in quarterly meetings.

Requirements • Minimum 2 years of management experience or equivalent in a similar program. , • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a team of volunteers. , • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. , • Knowledge of the child welfare system and experience working with teens and young adults. , • Cultural self-awareness and ability to address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Nice-to-haves • Bachelor's degree in social work, public policy, or a related field. , • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices. , • Experience developing and managing a program budget. , • Ability to manage challenging situations with a calm demeanor.
