Overview:

Position: Workers’ Compensation Claim Consultant Location: Okemos, MI - Hybrid (Fully remote for the right candidate). Schedule: Office Hours Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM flex time available with core hours 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 annually Jurisdiction: Michigan (Michigan Adjuster's License Required) Industry Focus: Education, Manufacturing, and Retail Experience: Prior TPA experience is helpful but not required

Position Summary:

The Workers’ Compensation Claim Consultant is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and adjusting Michigan workers’ compensation claims while providing exceptional service to multiple accounts. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and may serve as a pathway to senior-level claim positions. Responsibilities: • Claim Investigation & Adjustment: Investigate, evaluate, and adjust workers’ compensation claims in accordance with Michigan laws and CCMSI claim handling standards. • Reserve Management: Establish reserves and provide recommendations within assigned authority levels. • Payment Authorization: Review and approve medical, legal, and related invoices. Authorize claim payments within established guidelines. • Settlement Negotiation: Negotiate settlements in compliance with corporate standards, client-specific instructions, and state laws. • Vendor Oversight: Coordinate with and oversee outside vendors, including legal counsel, surveillance providers, and case managers. • Subrogation Monitoring: Assess and monitor claims for potential subrogation and ensure timely resolution. • Diary Management & Reporting: Maintain claim files, update diaries, and prepare detailed reports on claim status, payments, and reserves. • Client Communication: Provide clear and timely communication to clients, claimants, and other stakeholders. • Professional Development: Conduct claim reviews, training sessions, and prepare newsletter articles as requested. • Compliance: Adhere to corporate standards, client handling instructions, and state laws. • Hearing Participation: Attend and participate in hearings, mediations, and legal conferences as appropriate. • Additional Duties: Handle complex claims with minimal supervision and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: • Experience: Minimum 5 years of workers’ compensation claim experience required. • Skills: • Strong analytical, negotiation, and organizational abilities. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain discretion and confidentiality. • Attributes: • Self-starter with initiative to achieve performance goals. • Detail-oriented and flexible in a fast-paced environment. • Commitment to responsive and high-quality client service. • Physical Demands: • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. • Sufficient auditory and visual acuity for effective communication.
